Mary Jo Vepley

A memorial visitation will be held on March 20, 2026, starting at 11:00 AM until time of memorial service at 12:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd in Gurnee. Interment to follow at Highland Memorial Park, 33100 Hunt Club Rd in Libertyville.

Mary Jo was born on October 28, 1944 to Jack and Josephine Ulrey. She attended Grant Community High School, graduating in 1962. In 1964 she met the love of her life, Frank C. Vepley Jr., and the two were married on May 8, 1965, and had been together for 60 years.

Mary Jo worked as an Administrative Secretary at SEDOL and then Hawthorn School District 73. She devoted most of her spare time to genealogy research and was a member of the Lake County IL Genealogical Society. She held many offices several times for many years as President, 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President and Secretary Board Member. She was also an avid gardener, and enjoyed traveling to explore the United States, having spent time exploring in Alaska, Hawaii, and camping in many different national parks.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Frank C. Vepley Jr.; sons Frank R. (Karen) Vepley and Kurt (Diane) Vepley; grandchildren Carter (Karen Castaneda), Olivia (Matt Zinnen), Heather, Sara, Matthew, and Michelle; great-grandchildren Addison, and Ace; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Josephine (nee Landowski) Ulrey.
