
Michael J. Gzehoviak, age 72, of Gurnee passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Advocate Aurora Condell Hospital. Michael was born on August 23, 1950 in Loup City, NE to Henry and Louise (Bendykowski) Gzehoviak. He graduated high school in Omaha, received his Bachelors from the University of Nebraska-Omaha and received his Master’s in Chicago. He married Linda Coppins in Eden Prairie, MN on February 4, 1983. During his life, Michael was a director of training and development for large corporations. This included Scott Paper, Pepsi-Co and the Hershey Company. He loved being a father and enjoyed coaching his son’s sports teams when he was younger. He was captain of the same fantasy football league for nearly 30 years, playing with his son and many friends. Michael also enjoyed his time on the links playing golf, and his greatest joy was his family.
He was preceded in death by his and his wife’s parents and his sister-in-law, Barbara Haroldson.
Michael is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Linda; two children, Toni (Daniel) Gorman and Patrick (Alison) Gzehoviak; three grandchildren, Sophie and Hannah Gorman, and Landon Gzehoviak, born on January 4, 2023. He is also survived by his 8 siblings and their spouses, 2 of Linda’s siblings and their spouses, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
A funeral mass for Michael will be celebrated on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, 6401 Gages Lake Rd, Gurnee. Visitation will begin at 8:30am, followed by the funeral at 9:30am.
