

Michael Wayne Kuffel, 72, passed away peacefully at his home in Gurnee, IL on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020. He was born on August 7th, 1948 to Simon and Mildred (Michela) Kuffel in Chicago, IL. Mike was raised in Glenview, IL with his family and graduated from Glenbrook South High School. On July 20th, 1974 he married the love of his life, Carol Sue Lund. Together with Carol’s daughters, Debbie and Donna, they purchased their first home in Arlington Heights, IL. Mike worked for Laidlaw disposal services for many years. In September of 1981, their daughter, Sheri, was born. They lived there until 1991 when Mike and Carol opened their business, Sweep It Up, Inc. in Prospect Heights, IL. After Sheri graduated high school in 1999, they purchased their forever home in Gurnee, IL where Mike continued to run his business. After many years of hard work and perseverance, he retired at the age of 67 to enjoy life. Mike loved taking trips, spending time with his family, fishing, boating and being with his dogs. He was an avid Chicago Bears fan, as well as all the other Chicago teams, and he loved classic cars. Mike always looked forward to his family holiday with his brother and sisters, and all their families. He was the life of the party and truly loved everyone.
Michael is survived by his wife, Carol Kuffel; his three daughters, Sheri (Dan) Teodoro, Debbie Davis, and Donna (Craig) Heraty; his six grandchildren, Rebe (Miguel) Arrieta, Brandy, Brooke, Craig Jr, Carson and Elliana and his great grandson, Julian; his three siblings, Carol (the late Howard) Melton, Kenny (Karyl) Kuffel, and Kathy (Brad) Barber. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Mildred Kuffel and his brother-in-law, Howard Melton.
A visitation for Michael will be held Saturday, November 7, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd., Gurnee, IL 60031.
