June 23, 1986 – September 2, 2025
Our beloved, Monica Julia Sandru, 39, of Grayslake, Illinois, went to be with her beautiful Savior, Jesus, on September 2, 2025. Monica fought with grace and held tightly to hope while contending for healing with unwavering trust in God. She was surrounded by her loving family when she ran into the arms of Jesus, victorious and completely healed.
Monica’s tender heart and gentle spirit was a source of immense joy to all who knew her. Her life was abundantly marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. She lived in complete devotion to Jesus, reflecting the quiet intimacy of a heart tuned to His whisper. Monica’s heart was tethered to Jesus and His glory was a constant reflection on her face. Her adoration for her Savior was evident to everyone.
Monica was born on June 23, 1986, in Evanston, Illinois, to loving parents, Maria and John Sandru. Monica came to know Jesus as a young child at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Skokie, Illinois, attending Sunday School and singing in the children’s choir. She continued to grow in her faith at The Salvation Army Wonderland Camp, in Camp Lake, Wisconsin, leading young campers to Christ. For more than 20 years, Monica was devoted to her Eagles’ Nest Christian Church family in Brookfield, Wisconsin, where her walk with Christ was shaped and strengthened through the faithful teaching of the Word.
Monica loved to travel and her favorite place was always a white sand beach with a beautiful sunset. Monica had a heart for children and animals. She absolutely adored her nephews and nieces and her three doggies, Alaska, Toby, and Milo. She had a love for cars, enjoyed baking, and spending time with her family. Monica loved music and was a talented singer, dancer, and artist.
Monica’s family will forever cherish her memory: her devoted mother, Maria Sandru, loving sister and brother, Diana Sandru and Emilian (Dorothy) Florescu, adored nephew and niece, Nicholas and Emma Florescu. Cousin Bobby (Luvia) Ioanes and their children, Luz and Emmanuel Ioanes. Cousin John Ioanes and aunt Stela Cosma. Uncle Aurel (Anisoara) Starociu, and cousin Adela Starociu. Monica is reunited in Heaven with her father, John Sandru, and her grandparents.
Her race is finished, her faith kept, and her crown of righteousness received. Monica worships now at the feet of Jesus, awaiting the day her loved ones will join her in glory.
