Robert W DeRue, 85, passed away on January 11, 2021 at home, surrounded by his loving family . He was born on April 9, 1935 in Waukegan, Illinois to William and Lillian DeRue . He was a graduate of Waukegan High School class of 1953. Robert married the love of his life Marsha Augustine on February 21, 1959. Together, they had four loving children. He was employed by the Lake County Recorder of Deeds office from 1959 until he retired in 1996. Robert also worked part-time bartending at many locations in Lake County, including Brae Loch Country Club, Cabriolet Restaurant and also Corbins Tavern (aka) The Fogcutter in Grandwood Park. Bob and Marsha enjoyed their retirement years together, spending time traveling the world including Hawaii, Australia and New Zealand. They especially enjoyed their 20 plus winters in Tucson, Arizona with the many friends they met along the way. Robert was a life long, die hard, Cubs fan that got to see his Cubbies win a World Series.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Marsha, his sons Randy (Debbie), Mike (Debbie), and daughters Laura (Andy) Dittrich and Lisa Kerton. 10 grandchildren Jaime (Tim) DeVoe, Derek, Brandon, McKenna, Ashley, Scott, Brett (Kelly), Kyle (Sam), Taylor (Lauren) and Samantha. He was a loving Great-PaPa to Kaydin, Liam, Cali , Miley and another great-granddaughter, who will be arriving in February. He will be especially missed by his lifelong friend John Henry Yarnall. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers (Bud, Butch, Bill and Herb) and 2 sisters (Lucille and Lolly). He will be greatly missed by many nieces and nephews and all the lives he’s touched. His wishes were to have a private family ceremony, followed by a Celebration of Life at a later date.
