Robert “Bob” William Turner II, age 55, of Gurnee, IL, passed away surrounded by close friends and family, on March 1st, 2022 at his home in Sebastian, FL after an 18-month fight against pancreatic cancer.
Bob was born to Robert William Turner I and Cynthia Lee Andis on May 31st, 1966 in Oak Park, IL. As a young boy, Bob enjoyed soccer, baseball (shortstop), and Civil War re-enactment groups. Bob then went on to attend Eastern Illinois University and met his soulmate, Mary Jennifer Pickering of East Peoria, IL while working at a YMCA summer camp. They married on November 12th, 1988 and moved to Gurnee, IL where they raised their two children, Cameron Robert and Mary Claire. Bob worked as Senior Telecommunications Manager at Discover Financial Services for 25 years and was a member of Saint Paul the Apostle Church.
Bob was passionate about European travel, cruises, fantasy football, and his Cubbies. Bob was known to drink bourbon with his closest friends, fish with his children in Minocqua, WI, and attend rock concerts with his wife. His family described him as “humorous, stubborn, and reliable.” He will be dearly missed.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and beloved Poodles Storm and Coco. He is survived by his wife, Jen; his son, Cameron; his daughter, Claire; his sisters, Linda Dowell and Julie (Tom) Hancock; his nieces and nephews; his sister and brother-in-laws; his mother and father-in-law Kathie and Tom Pickering; and his Poodles, Peaches and Luna.
The visitation will be held at Marsh Funeral home in Gurnee, IL on March 10th, 2022 from 5-8pm. The funeral service will be held at Saint Paul the Apostle Church on March 11th at 10am led by Dcn. Mike Penich, with burial to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery in Libertyville. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial donations to Wildwood Wildlife Park in Minocqua, WI and Saint Paul the Apostle Church in Gurnee, IL.
