

Robert Fred Zwicke “Bob”, 88 of Waukegan, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1st, 2025 at home with family. He is survived by his wife Elizabeth, 3 children, and 10 grand and great-grandchildren. Robert was born in Marshfield, Wisconsin, but raised in Waukegan where he remained as a lifelong resident. He is a graduate of Waukegan Township High School class of 1954 and in 1958 he served 6 months active duty training at Fort Knox, Kentucky going on to complete 5 years in the Illinois Army Reserves. In 1959 Robert wed his beautiful bride Elizabeth Schneider at Gurnee Community Church sharing nearly 67 years together and raising a family that included 3 children: Kurt, Noreen, and Paul, 7 grandchildren: Anna, Carl, Grant, Kira, Summer, Denise, and Brock, and 3 great-grandchildren: Alec, Jayda, and Camila. Robert retired from Commonwealth Edison after 36 years, first as a draftsman, then in engineering, including a brief tenure at the Zion Nuclear Power Plant. He loved his work with ComEd participating in many projects across the north suburbs and making many friends throughout his career. Robert was a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan which he attended regularly serving both on the Board of Elders and Board of Properties. Robert’s priority in life was family and faith but enjoyed many hobbies including photography, organ playing, trailer camping, bowling, bicycling, golf and many others. His genuine character and generous spirit was recognized by all who knew him and remained with him throughout his life. He will be sorely missed by friends, family and coworkers who loved him and held him dear. We mourn his passing. In celebration of his life a viewing and service will be held for him on Monday, June 9th, 2025 starting at 10am at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Waukegan. Following an interment at North Shore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, all are invited to attend a repast back at the church.
