Ruth was born in Rahway, New Jersey to Raymond and Mildred (Polkowski) Stawinski on November 22, 1940. She graduated from Waukegan High School in 1960, after which she briefly attended North Central Bible College in Minneapolis, MN and finally Muellers School of Cosmetology in Waukegan.
For 20 years, Ruth was the proud owner of Top Notch Beauty Salon in Waukegan. After closing the salon, Ruth went on to work for Michael’s Craft Center doing floral design. She also served as a member of the Lake County Board of Directors.
Ruth played the organ at Calvary Temple in Waukegan for 31 years. She also taught Sunday school for many years. Most recently, she was a member of CrossLife Evangelical Free Church in Libertyville, IL.
Ruth was well known for her beautiful floral arrangements and musical talents.
Ruth is survived by her sisters Melody Grula of Plainfield, IN, Naomi DeFoggi of Frederick, MD, and Marcy Stawinski of Plainfield, IN; eight nieces and nephews; and 8 grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Mildred Stawinski; stepmother Bertha (Kocielski); and sister Judith Fackert.
