Severino Galang Castillo, age 63, of Waukegan, Illinois passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022, at Vista Medical Center East. He was born on February 11, 1959, in Sampaloc, Manila, Philippines. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Bong.”
Bong received his B.A. in Commerce and a scholarship in computer programming from the University of the East. He was employed at Meralco Electric Co. until his move to the United States. He worked for First Midwest Bank, St. Therese Medical Center, Lakeside Transportation.
Fast-paced city life was not Bong’s idea of living life. He found contentment in living a simple private life. Bong was an avid fan of fishing. The tranquil surroundings of Lake Michigan gave him respite from the daily hustle and bustle of city life. It always fascinated him to experience the hands-on operation of any hand tool or power tool that was new to him.
Beloved Bong was the sixth child of Mama Generosa Galang Castillo and the late Papa Bernabe Castillo Sr.; loving brother of Evelyn (Alfonso) Bautista, Praxedes Castillo Lim, Bernabe (Noemi) Castillo Jr., Eulogio (Rosalinda) Castillo, Girlie Pauig, Danilo (Sharon) Castillo, Emmanual Castillo, and Jose Castillo; loving uncle to nephews and nieces.
Private family vigil and Catholic funeral liturgy will be held at Marsh Funeral Home in Gurnee on Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at 3:00PM. It is Bong’s wish to go back home in the Philippines. And to rest in peace at the side of our late father, Papa Bernabe Castillo Sr., in the family memorial garden at Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig, Philippines.
Bong was very thankful to the Lord for…
one life…
one true love…
what more could one ask for?...
thank you Lord…
isang buhay…
isang tunay na pagmamahal…
ano pa ang nanaisin?...
salamat po Panginoon…
… bong
