Terry was born in Chicago, IL on December 6, 1948, to the late Tedford and Catherine (nee Dore) Witte. He attended Lake Zurich High School and was a graduate of Roosevelt University.
A United States Army Veteran, Terrence served as a clerk/typist in Vietnam. In 1974, he was united in marriage to his beloved Marlene (nee Mateja) and became a loving father to Laura and Bill. Terry and Marlene enjoyed almost 52 years together.
Terry worked at Jewel Park in Barrington, and in later years at LTD Commodities in Bannockburn, where his unyielding work ethic was evident to all.
Terry had a love for the simple pleasures in life. He loved taking care of animals in the yard, such as a mama fox and her kits, and the sandhill cranes. Year-round, he made sure that all the birds that entered the yard were well fed. He adored and spoiled his many cats over the years. Terry was the ultimate caregiver, whether tending to Marlene’s gardens, cutting the grass, or feeding the birds. His gentle spirit was apparent to all as he cared for others, especially Marlene.
As a father, Terry was a model of prudence, strength, and devotion. He was the ultimate provider for his family.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marlene (nee Mateja) Witte; children Laura Gilleland, William (Laurie) Luczak, grandchildren Reid, Callie, Keir, and Jace; brothers Timothy (Monica) Witte, Frank Witte, and brother-in-law Lee (Linda) Mateja, as well as many relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N. Cemetery Rd in Gurnee.
The Witte family kindly requests any donations in Terry’s name be made to Save-A-Pet, Orphans of the Storm, or American Veterans (AMVETS).
