A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 2nd, from 11:00 Am until time of service at 1:00 PM at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd in Gurnee, IL.
Tim is survived by his adoring wife of 36 years, Gail Bennett (nee Wilke); his devoted son, Michael Bennett, future daughter-in-law Angie Arreola, and granddaughter Addison “Addie” Bennett; beloved daughter Danielle “Dani” Bennett; dear sister Pat (Robert) Grapenthien; sister-in-law Lisa (Ted) Heberling; many nieces, nephews, friends, and neighbors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tim and Ann (nee Flanagan) Bennett, brother Charles “Chuckie” Bennett and sister Nancy Bennett.
Tim proudly served his county from August 28, 1968, through September 22, 1969, as a member of the United States Marine Corps, 1st Marines, 2nd Division. He was a Combat Veteran of the Vietnam Conflict and achieved the rank of Corporal (E4) during his time in the service.
Tim was a longtime employee of Kraft Foods, retiring in 2004. After his retirement from Kraft Foods, Tim found a new purpose in life as a bus driver for local schools, as well as a public transporter for people with disabilities.
Outside of work, Tim was an avid horse-raising enthusiast, and life-long Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He also truly cherished the connections we made with his friends and neighbors and often worked hard to help others in the community.
Exactly one year before his passing (October 11, 2024) Tim was a proud member of Lake County Honor Flight 26, accompanied by his daughter Dani, who served as his official Guardian, on Lake County Honor Flight 26. Tim was one of the four honorees selected from the honored group to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. This momentous occasion helped bring closure to his service in Vietnam.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake County Honor Flight, P.O. Box 1187 North Chicago, IL 60064 are appreciated.
