Timothy Paul Setterlund, age 58, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2025, with his family by his side at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago after a long and courageous battle against esophageal cancer.
Born on January 28, 1967 to Burton Jr. and Lynda Setterlund. He was deeply loyal and quick with a laugh. He is survived by his parents, his beloved son Shane Setterlund of Grandwood Park, IL, and his siblings Christa Corzatt and Anthony Setterlund. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Burton Sr. and Olga Setterlund, and George and Clara Belle Blasco, along with many dear friends.
He fought bravely and refused to let his diagnosis define him. A lifelong angler, a self-taught guitarist, avid boater, and a lover of music. Tim lived a simple life, happiest fishing on Lake Miltimore, Sand Lake or in Wisconsin with his closest friends. When not fishing, Tim could be found playing guitar in his home to his favorite bands. He was an incredible musician and played with great enthusiasm and volume.
In his final days, Tim was surrounded by love, family and music. Those closest to him take comfort in knowing he has joined the many great musicians he admired and who we hope are all playing together somewhere at peace.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a funeral service at 3:30 p.m. at Marsh Funeral Home, 305 N Cemetery Rd, Gurnee IL. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tim’s memory to the American Cancer Society – Esophageal Cancer Research, P.O. Box 6704 Hagerstown, MD 21741.
