

Vasiliki ‘Bessie’ Skaramagos of Gurnee, age 85, passed away peacefully in her home on July 14, 2025. Born in Nestani, Greece, on December 5, 1939, she immigrated to the United States in 1956 and spent most of her life in Gurnee, Illinois.
Bessie retired from Abbott Laboratories in 2002 after many years of dedicated service. A devoted member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Libertyville, she faithfully attended and supported the church community for over 60 years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Chrisa Skaramagos, and her brothers, Alex (Toula) Douvikas and Gust (Kalli) Douvikas.
She is survived by her loving children: Sam (Mitzie) Jikomes, Tom Jikomes, and Olga (John) Kritikos; her cherished grandchildren: Nick, Nicholette, Casey, Victoria, Alexa, Dimetrius, and Dominic; and seven adored great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Pete (Penny) Douvikas, her sister, Georgia (George) Haralambopoulos and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Libertyville at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at New Gracanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery in Third Lake, Illinois.
Bessie will be remembered for her deep faith, her love for her family, and her unwavering generosity. May her memory be eternal.
