

Barbara Zucker-Zarett, 73, passed away peacefully in her Manhattan apartment on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Barbara, also known as ZZ, was an amazing woman who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her long-time special friend, Philip Kamil, her son Evan (Meghan) Zucker, her son Brian (Debbie) Zucker and her five grandchildren, Jordan, Elizabeth, Jackson, Addie and Sarah.
Born in New Jersey in 1939 to Mike and Lillian (Gordon) Zarett, Barbara taught college English, raised two sons as a full-time mother and served as President of the Board of Education in Parsippany, NJ before graduating Law School at Rutgers University in the early 1980’s. After practicing law for several years she was named the first female Municipal Judge in Parsippany, following which she was appointed to the Morris County Superior Court by then New Jersey Governor Christie Whitman. She served as Presiding Judge of the Chancery Division for the last few years of her career. During retirement she moved from Morris County to Manhattan, volunteering her time at the NY Philharmonic and the Met among other activities, and she traveled extensively.
ZZ married Marshall Zucker in 1959 and they were divorced in 1989. Soon after, she met her companion Philip Kamil, and the two were together for more than 20 years.
Funeral services was held on Friday, October 26 at 11:00 AM at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ
Shiva will be at the home of Brian & Debbie Zucker, 160 Hobart Ave, Summit, NJ 07901 on Saturday October 27th, 7pm-9pm
