Remembering Charlie brings a smile to my face. He was brilliant and funny and always telling lively stories and jokes. Gerry and I have fond memories of sharing delicious gourmet dinners with Charlie and Carolyn and Jack and Renee on beautiful Saint Martin’s. Charlie epitomized the true meaning of  joie de vie!

The impact you had on my life was profound to say the least. I will cherish our Yankee/Red Sox debates I am the man I am today because of you I still can’t believe you are really gone but the positive impact you had on so many will last for generations 

 Charlie - I suppose I was never truly engaged in your life, or even close enough with you in PS 40 or Stuyvesant High to become a genuine friend, but we briefly renewed the acquaintance at the 50 year reunion in 2004 with a few memories. Your consideration, achievement,  and stature in life were a reaffirmation, and brought the promising young man fully back to me. A  golden tribute to character. aspiration, family and friendship. RIP.

                 I’m picturing you up there in baseball heaven, arguing with Casey Stengel on whether to platoon Gene Woodling. I’ll join you there one day and share the  wonderful laughter of 2 near sighted Jews who imagined themselves out there in center field with Mickey and Moose Skowron.

I met Charlie many decades  ago. We would see each other periodically at meetings. Our not seeing each other than not so frequently belies the fact that we would engage with one another as if we had seen each other just yesterday. He was very nice, very smart, and responded quietly to a conflicted situation w a twinkle in his eye
