It’s heartbreaking to hear about the passing of Professor David Nassimi. As one of his former students, I feel a deep sense of loss. He wasn’t just a professor; he was someone who truly cared about his students’ growth, both academically and personally. Professor Nassimi had this rare gift of making complex concepts feel accessible. He never made you feel small for asking questions. He encouraged curiosity, respected every perspective, and believed in us even when we doubted ourselves.

I remember his passion for teaching. His door was always open, whether you needed help with coursework or advice on life. He pushed us to aim higher, always with kindness, patience, and an unwavering belief in what we could achieve.

More than anything, I’ll always be grateful for his mentorship. He shaped not just how I approach problems as an engineer today but how I carry myself in life with integrity, curiosity, and the drive to make a difference.

His impact on so many of us is immeasurable. My heart goes out to his family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Thank you, Professor Nassimi, for everything. You will be missed deeply, but your legacy will live on in all the lives you touched.

While I was not the best student of Professor Nassimi, he has always been lenient on me.

Specifically, I had a trip that would have resulted in me missing a rather crucial assignment. Nassimi, as most professors should, was going to fail me until he heard the reason as to why I was leaving. 

It was for my sister's wedding. Instead of suggesting I skip this event and focus on my studies, he allowed me to make up the work so long as I showed him pictures of everything that happened during the trip. To capture each moment like it was my last. 

While it may seem like such a small gesture of kindness, I would not have graduated if it was not for him.

Thank you professor for giving me a second chance.

His passion for his work and dedication to ensuring his student's success did not go unnoticed. He taught every student that hard work would take them far and believed in us more than we did in ourselves. Thank you for shaping the next generation of Computer Scientists and inspiring me- you are missed greatly.

Thank you for trusting me with your class and letting me know I always have a place at YWCC.

Dr. Nassimi was a wonderful professor and made every one of his classes at NJIT interesting and educational. The students of NJIT will miss him dearly.

I am so saddened to hear about David's passing. As a professional colleague, I have known David since his early days when he started at NJIT. We met at professional meetings, exchanged technical ideas and had several memorable interactions over the years.

David was a very bright researcher who made pioneering contributions to the field of parallel computing. His seminal work in the 70's and 80's deeply impacted the field  and inspired a generation of researchers in our community.

David was a fun guy to be with. He was witty with a very nice sense of humor. I enjoyed our direct and "no nonsense"  conversations.

He will be missed by many friends and the broader community.

Maura and I are sorry to learn of the passing of David, your beloved husband/father. Please accept our deepest sympathy and sincerest condolences. Wishing you peace and comfort during this sorrowful time. 

We met David in 1989, immediately after his arrival at NJIT, and we always held him in high regards and apperceived his kindness and sincerity.

I am shocked and  saddened   to have learned last night of David's sudden passing this past Friday.  I am still trying to make sense of it.  David has been a colleague of mine for more than 25 years, though I have been familiar with his professional  work for more than 35 years.  David was always easy-going, mild,  friendly  and never  mouthed a bad word for any one though he was not very fond (and no one can blame him for that)  of  the politicians of his birth country, Iran,  that he departed from in 1964 or so.
My sincerest condolences to Jenny, Rivka, and David's relatives  in the USA and Israel.

Soon and I are heartbroken to hear the news. We went a long way together with David and Jenny. Attending each other's weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs. And most recently the beautiful wedding of their daughter.  David had a big heart for everybody and very visibly he had a big heart for the CS students.  He always spoke up for them. His kindness will be missed everywhere.

I am sorry to hear of David's passing.   David was a distinguished and esteemed colleague in CS@NJIT.  I often sought his advice as I served after him as PhD program director, and often sought his insights in teaching cs610.  Sincere condolences to his family, and may he rest in peace.

Deepest condolences to the family! David was my colleague in the Computer Science Department at NJIT for more than 20 years. Throughout all this time, he stood out as a perfect gentleman, and I always enjoyed our conversations. He will be missed by his colleagues and many generations of students. May he rest in peace!
