

Elaine (Esther) was born December 11, 1927 to Ira and Mollie Klein in the back of the family's candy store. Elaine was raised in Newark and graduated from Barringer High School (1943) before attending Secretarial school.
From an early age, Elaine loved to dance. She met her husband to be, Henry Prosnitz (owner of Prozy's Army and Navy store) at a YMHA dance. They married in April of 1947 and eventually moved to River Edge where they lived for 32 years. They were among the original founders of Temple Shalom in River Edge and was the Temple's secretary for many years and also served as President of the Sisterhood.
An avid Folk and Square dancer, Elaine traveled the world dancing with Henry, enjoying foreign cultures and making new friends, Sadly, Elaine lost Henry in 1885. Elaine married Jimmy Hendricks, a fellow dancer in 1989. They too, traveled extensively, Inseparable partners, whether golfing, playing tennis, or of course dancing.
An ardent supporter of the arts and the State of Israel, Elaine contributed generously to the UJA and scholarship programs at Ramapo Collage, from which she received a degree in literature, after her children had grown. Elaine will be dearly remembered as a loving, caring, wonderful woman by her children, Grandchildren, nephews and Nieces. She was dearly loved.
Beloved wife of the late Henry Prosnitz and the late Jimmy Hendricks. Loving mother of David (Lori) Prosnitz, Iris (Craig) Levinsohn and Robert Prosnitz, Proud grandmother of Joseph Prosnitz, Hannah (Ofer) Eckstein, Miriam Prosnitz, Daniel Levinsohn and Kyle Levinsohn.
Funeral Service was held 11 AM on Monday March 28th at our funeral home; Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601.
Interment followed at Beth David Cemetery, Kenilworth, NJ.
Shiva will begin today after the cemetery and continue thru Thursday with a 8PM Minyan Service each night at 448 Grove Street, Oradell, NJ 07649
