Elias (Hy) Eliasof died peacefully at his home in Bethesda, MD on March 27. He loved God, country, family, and friends, and he spread great joy in this world. Hy was one of seven children born to his parents, who immigrated to the United States from Greece. His long and interesting life included combat service in WWII (Bronze Star recipient and proud Black Lion), ownership with his brothers of a manufacturing business in NYC, and decades of community service, including as Mayor of Closter, NJ. Hy's generous acts of charity and philanthropy benefitted many. His beloved wife, Marion, and daughter Diane Eilenberg predeceased him. He leaves to carrying on his legacy daughter Lucy Gies (Tom), granddaughter Betsy Gies, grandsons David and Ben Eilenberg, and great-grandsons Felix, Daniel, and Elias Eilenberg.
