It is with a heavy heart that we announce that Elliot Nachimson passed away after a brief illness on April 20, 2025 at the age of 91. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 5, 1934 to Sylvia and Nathan Nachimson. After graduating from high school, Elliot was proud to receive a bachelor’s degree in business from New York University. But he was even prouder to have found the love of his life, Helen Stoll Nachimson on a blind date. They married on June 24, 1956.
In addition to a successful real estate career, he spent a portion of his career in advertising sales, where he achieved Chairman’s Club recognition 10 years in a row. Active in community affairs, he served as Master of his Masonic Lodge and was president of his local civic association.
A lifelong Brooklyn Dodgers fan, he never forgave Walter O’Malley for moving the team to the west coast, and, thanks to his children, grandchildren, and friends, he amassed an impressive collection of Brooklyn Dodgers memorabilia that he displayed proudly everywhere he lived. Elliot loved opera and cantorial music and nothing gave him greater pleasure than sharing this love of music with his children and grandchildren. His love of singing led him to help create the chorus at his community where he was well known as “Elliot the Chorus Guy,” and he delighted in the audience response to his many solos.
The most important thing in Elliot’s life was his family, whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Helen, sons and daughters in law, Steven and Gail Nachimson, Mark and Karen Nachimson and Robert and Heidi Nachimson, sister and brother in law Barbara and Barry Zimmerman, brother in law Peter Stoll, grandchildren Evan Nachimson, Seth Nachimson and Elizabeth Han, Eric and Emily Levine, Brian Levine, Lauren Nachimson, Aliya Nachimson, Elyza Nachimson, Sam Nachimson, and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother in law Phyllis and Stanley Rosenstock and his daughter Linda Gail Nachimson.
The funeral will be held at Gutterman Musicant Funeral Home, 402 Park St, Hackensack, NJ 07601, on Wednesday April 23, 2024 at 12:30 pm. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. Virtual service information can be found at: https://www.legacycelebrated.com/elliot-nachimson/
