

He was married to his wife May for over 67 years, until she passed away in December 2017. He was a proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his children, Lee, Hilary, and Dan, and seven grandchildren.
Gerry received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from New York University. He was a proud veteran, serving as a medic in the Navy during WWII, where he was stationed in the Pacific.
Gerry enjoyed a long and distinguished career as a Research Chemist. He pioneered many developments in the field of flame retardants, and many of his innovations are still used in a myriad of products, from automobiles to clothing, to furniture and bedding. In 1992, he received a Lifetime Achievement award for outstanding contributions by the Polyurethane Foam Industry.
Gerry was a true do-it-yourselfer, an entertaining storyteller, a lover of music, and loved sharing his knowledge and passion for life with everyone around him.
Gerry was also an avid nature enthusiast. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to The Nature Conservancy.
Funeral service 10:30AM Friday at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ.
Interment will follow at Beth El Cemetery, located at in the Beth El / Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652.
