Ira Bash, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away at 84 years old on June 5 from his fight with Parkinson’s disease. Born in the Bronx, Ira was the only child of the late Jack Bash and Sylvia Heller.
Ira received his undergraduate degree from Muhlenberg College, and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the New York University College of Dentistry. He served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War as an oral surgeon. Following his service, Ira had a private oral surgery and dentistry practice in West New York and was dedicated to the care of his patients.
Ira married Fran, the love of his life and best friend, on July 3, 1966, and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary next month. His family grew over the decades to come, and his devotion to his sons and grandchildren was without measure. They were the light of his life. He never missed a chance to share his love of sports with his children and grandchildren, whether it was coaching them, cheering them on, or watching the Mets and Jets with them.
Ira is survived by his wife, Fran Bash, his four sons Jeffrey (Hope), Jonathan (Lisa), Howard (Lisa), Marc (Stephanie), and nine grandchildren, Maxwell (Aimee), Sasha, Hannah, Jesse, Jake, Jordan, Emily, Alex, and Ryan. His family and friends will remember Ira as a wise man of few words, but always speaking up when it mattered most and his actions spoke the loudest.
Ira’s funeral will be held Sunday, June 7, at New Montefiore Cemetery.
The family asks that you honor Ira’s life with a donation to Farmington Chabad.
