

Jacqueline Maltin passed away on Nov 9th at her home in Cliffside Park NJ from a recent illness. Born Florice Gould in NYC in 1923, she studied voice, piano and drama from an early age. At age 11 she appeared in a solo recital at The Great Northern Hotel, NYC. At age 15, while still enrolled at Professional Children's School of NYC, Jackie (whose stage name was then Jacquelina Stewart) became a full-time musician. She supported her family during the Great Depression with steady engagements at The Waldorf Astoria, The Rainbow Room and The Russian Tea room, among others. During her time as a cast member at the Paper Mill playhouse, Jackie joined the original cast of "Carousel" on Broadway. She was featured on both National Radio and the Arthur Godfried TV show shortly thereafter.
In 1949 she met and married Aaron I. Maltin, a New York City attorney and immigration judge and retired from music. In 1954, they move to Teaneck, NJ, where she was a loving mother to two sons, Leonard & Bernard (Bud). Mrs. Maltin returned to music in the 1960s, giving recitals, entertaining for charity and giving a Town Hall concert in 1965. Aaron and Jackie enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 53 years until Mr. Maltin's passing in 2002. She continued to teach voice and perform as recently as 2012.
Mrs. Maltin is survived by her oldest son Leonard, daughter-in-law Alice and granddaughter Jessie. She is also survived by her youngest son Bud, daughter-in-law Janis, granddaughters Aja Maltin and Aviva Buivid, and Aviva’s husband David Buivid.
