Jay Henry Gold succumbed on January 23, 2026, after years of valiant resistance against a host of health issues.
He was born on October 5, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from Baruch College and Brooklyn Law School he began practicing as an accountant and tax attorney and never stopped working.
But working was far from the sum of his life. He loved to travel and did so incessantly---first, when he was younger to all corners of the globe and then later, when that proved impossible, to all corners of the tri-state area. He gave generously of his time and money, serving as treasurer for B’nai Brith and Temple Beth El and donating money to a variety of causes but especially to organizations fighting diabetes.
More than anything, his life was about his family. He loved nothing more than to be at family events surrounded by his loving wife, his children and his grandchildren. And they in turn adored and doted on him.
Jay is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda, his sons Andrew (Shari) and Jonathan (Kirsten), and his grandchildren Rachel (Matt), Josh, Raphael and Dalia.
A funeral service will be held at Kol Dorot Temple at 12:30PM 365 Howland Ave River edge, NJ
Shiva will take place at 60 Wicks Drive in Harrington Park, NJ in Wednesday from 7 to 9 pm, Thursday from 1:30 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm and Friday from noon to 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Joslin Diabetes Center (joslin.org) or to Kol Dorot Synagogue (koldorot.org) in Jay’s name.
