My condolences to Jerry’s family. He was my acting teacher and he was the only acting teacher to get me at Montclair. He challenged me and gave me strength to pursue a life in the theatre. He is instrumental to my success in the theatre!!

I was a student of Professor Rookwood’s at Montclair State; class of 1987.
He was an amazing man! I learned so much from him as an actor.
I remember one thing he had said during one of my class performance assignments.
He said, “You can get away with it because your cute.”
Well that statement made me want to study harder to be a better actor.
His teaching prompted me to study under Uta Hagen, and Herbert Berghof at
HB Studio in NYC
I didn’t want to just get away with it!

My condolences on this great loss. Jerry lived a robust life -- and through his performances, his writing, his teaching, he influenced many people (and certainly me). He loved his craft, and helped instill that love in others. To Jerry, and to you -- with sadness, respect, love, admiration, and ultimately with thanks.
