Luis E. "Louie" Rodriguez Cuevas

May 13, 1932August 10, 2019

Friends may begin to arrive at 10:15 AM for ample to pay respects to the family.

Luis served our country as a United States Marine of the Korean Conflict.

The Cuevas Impact Corporation was formed by Luis R. Cuevas to satisfy a desire created by the times-to be highest quality art available to anyone who has the eye to see it-the inner eye, which tells you a piece is speaking to you, and that what it is saying is something fine.

The atelier is characterized by a solute devotion to the requirements of faithfulness to the artist's vision and the philosophy that fine art should not be out of the reach of anyone. The Cuevas Impact line is a complete range, from the signed and numbered limited edition collector's pieces to ready-to-hang prints affordable by everyone.

As an artist, Mr. Cuevas' works are his obvious credentials. The plates illustrated in his brochure present a gifted man whose works are representative of the balanced dichotomy of life; fantasy is countered by reality, provocative abstract images by extraordinarily realistic elements, design by color, simplicity by complexity. Each component seems to have its equal but opposite, creating visual satisfaction.

Mr. Cuevas' formal credentials begin with his training at the California School of Fine Arts, and the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles.

His work had been exhibited in galleries, private corporate headquarters, and museums throughout this country and abroad. HIs list of awards is an impressive one and his work has been purchased for many prominent private and public collections.

As a craftsman, Mr. Cuevas had an interest in the mechanics-what makes it work? To him, the next question is a logical extension-what will make it work better? This questioning leads the Cuevas Impact in its relentless search for the highest possible quality, the determination to reach the ultimate in each medium.

Luis is survived by his beloved Alice, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 5 brothers, a sister and many nieces and nephews.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at for the Rodriguez Cuevas family.

Luis always had such a great heart. I remember Luis always coming over with a pot of food in his hand and a smile on his face. My favorite meal he cooked was a gallego soup! He always cooked with love and shared with us for years. Luis, thank you for your love of cooking, your laughter, your art, your heart and mostly your company. You will always be remembered as the kind soul that lived across the street and an extension of our family. Thank you for being you.

Love always,
Ilianna Soto

As Luie’s former wife, I would like to post my version of his obituary:

Luis Enrique Rodriguez-Cuevas was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico on May 13, 1932. He served in the U.S, ,Marine Corp during the Korean conflict. He was a brilliant man and artist. He was kind, loving, generous, a great chef and story teller with a wonderful sense of humor. His brilliance often caused him to disconnect with the normal. Without a doubt he made an impact on all who knew him, especially upon those who loved him. He will be missed!
