Marion Aronoff also known as Marion Fried, died peacefully on Tuesday October 10, 2017 at the age of 84. She was born with a sparkle in her eye in Riverdale, NY to Celia and Ely Margolis. She captured the heart of Stanley Aronoff, a highly respected pharmacist, with whom she built a loving wonderful life in Englewood and Tenafly NJ and Lake Worth Florida. He predeceased her in October 1996.
Marion was a role model for women of her time having a career in education and business. A Hunter University graduate, she obtained two masters degrees and went on to be a teacher and administrator in the NYC school system for 35 years. Her energy and enthusiasm didn’t end there as she had an adventurous spirit and was very driven. She was an entrepreneur in the cosmetic business and bought and managed real estate. Whatever she did, she always said, “have fun with it. “ Marion also led an active social- life having many dear friends with whom she played golf and bridge at Edgewood Country Club in NJ and Wycliffe Country Club in Florida. It was at Wycliffe where she met another extraordinary man, Arthur Fried with whom she had a loving marriage until his passing in May 2017. She traveled all over the world, Africa, Asia, Russia, Israel, Europe, and made these trips even more meaningful by sharing them with friends or family. She especially loved trips with her grandaughters. Whether it was going to visit them at camp, college or taking them to Europe, these were highlights of her life. Marion brought friends and family together for parties and holidays, a gracious hostess, her Mandelbrot and brisket recipies are family heirlooms and will always remind us of her warmth and love. She cared deeply about those around her, always available to listen and giving smart, practical, and caring advice.
We are grateful for the many full rich years we had learning and doing with our classy mom and grandma. She will remain in the hearts and souls of her family and friends. She shared so much of herself and so is part of who we are. We will carry forward her example of making the most out of each day and ourselves while having fun!
Her brother, Ira predeceased her.
She is survived by her adoring family: daughter Cheryl Heller, son-in-law Rick Heller, and grandchildren Erica Heller, and Dana Kuller and husband Brett.
