Born April 6, 1931 in New York City, she raised her family in Palisades, NY and Old Tappan, NJ and actively retired to Ridgewood, NJ; staying involved with her children and grandchildren.
Martha was educated at Douglas College and completed a Master Degree in History at New York University. She had a full career teaching at Union Community College, as a writer at Volvo, and an Editor at Medical Economics and Drug Topics Magazine. She founded a Planned Parenthood Chapter, had a myriad of interests, and was most recently active in Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company. She traveled extensively. Her family was her priority.
Martha was preceded in death by her husband, Robert S. Glaser and her parents, Eva and Frank Urish. Survivors include children: Thomas (Ruby) Glaser, Demarest, NJ, Laura (George Donkin), Bethesda, MD, Marjorie (Robert Sommer), Ridgewood, NJ. Grandchildren: Natalie and Rachel Glaser, Michael and Jacob Donkin, Alex and Will Sommer. Her beloved Roy Lucas, Ridgewood, NJ and his children: Craig Lucas (Katherine), Alison Lucas (Edward Kunert), Nicole (Ted Haimes), Evan Lucas, and grandchildren: Daniel and Gabrielle Lucas, Lucas and Max Haimes. Sister: Virginia (Milton) Walzer, Boynton Beach, FL.
Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday at Gutterman and Musicant, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Paramus, NJ.
Relatives and friends are welcome at the Sommer residence, 211 Sunset Ave., Ridgewood, NJ April 10 and 11, from 2:00 – 8:00 for Shiva.
