

Siegel, Martin, 89 of Englewood Cliffs, passed away on September 19, 2016. He was born in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Brooklyn Technical High School, he served in the US Navy and attended CCNY, where he received his degree in electrical engineering cum laude.
Marty was an entrepreneurial engineer who held many patents for his diverse inventions. He is most well-known as a pioneer in the packaging industry, having developed the shrink packaging process that became the cornerstone of Weldotron, the company that he founded. Weldotron designed and manufactured the first commercially successful shrink packaging equipment, and subsequently was augmented by the introduction of equipment for the stretch wrap process.
Marty served on many boards, including PMMI (Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Institute) and contributed articles to a number of publications in the plastics and packaging fields.
Marty was recently chairman of Vcom IMC, a global manufacturer of audio-visual equipment.
Marty was also a brilliant artist who expressed his creativity through drawing, painting, and sculpting.
Marty was a devoted husband and is survived by the love of his life, his wife Celia. They met on the front stoop of a Brooklyn apartment over seventy years ago. He was instantly smitten and they were happily married for sixty-six years. Marty is survived by his two daughters Carol (Bill) and Laurie (Dan), and predeceased by his daughter Robin. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Richard
(Jennifer), Allison (Rob), Rachel (Nathan), and Michael, as well as two great-grandchildren, Asher and Eleanor.
SHIVA will be held at the home of Carol and Bill Kurtzer, 738 Tegawitha Way, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
