She is survived by her beloved children, Eric (Lina) of Old Tappan, Brian (Michael) of West Orange, and her grandchildren Ethan, Emma, and Benjamin, whom she cherished dearly. Additionally, she is survived by her companion of over 30 years, Salvatore Merlo.
She is predeceased by her sister Lillian Ashton and her parents Eugene and Bella Hacker.
Maxine was born in New York City and grew up in River Edge and Oradell and attended River Dell High School. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and friend. Her heart of gold touched all who knew her, and her presence is already profoundly missed.
A funeral service for Maxine will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at 11:30 AM with friends and family welcomed at 10:30 am. Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors is located at 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ, 07601. Following the funeral service a burial service will take place at Riverside Cemetery 12 Market Street, Saddle Brook, NJ, 07663.
Shiva will be observed on Wednesday and Thursday.
