October 28, 1930 – June 4, 2026
Nanette Shechter Matlick, beloved matriarch and devoted mother, passed away on June 4, 2026. She was 95 years old.
Born on October 28, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York, Nanette lived a life defined by love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to family and community. She was, above all, a devoted mother who led by example — raising her daughters to be independent, resilient, and caring women.
Nanette is survived by her four daughters: Bonnie Gurland (Keith), Karen Kavalin, Emily Beare (Brian), and Lisa Lippman, as well as 12 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. The sheer breadth of the family she helped build is a testament to the love she poured into every relationship.
A proud and active member of the National Council of Jewish Women, Nanette was honored as Woman of the Section — a recognition of the extraordinary dedication she brought to her community. She served with distinction on the Scholarship Committee, a cause she held with particular passion, and lent her time and talents to countless committees and community service initiatives throughout her life.
Her interests were as rich as her character. She had a deep love of the theater, the arts, film, literature, and travel — and she brought that same curiosity and enthusiasm to everything she did. To those who knew her, she was a force: fiercely independent, remarkably strong, and endlessly warm.
Her family and friends were her greatest joy, and she theirs.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
