Phyllis R. Schwartz

Phyllis Rome Schwartz of Tenafly, NJ passed away peacefully on August 17, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of Phillip and Ruth Rome (of blessed memory) raised in Worcester Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband Jay and daughter Lauri. Phyllis was a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. After graduating Pembroke (Brown University), she received a master’s in social work at Columbia University. Working in the public school system, Phyllis devoted her career to advocacy for parents and students, bringing the concept of parent workshops to public education. Her retirement was highlighted by bicycle trips and traveling around the world with her husband Jay, as well as time with her children, Andy and Mike Schwartz, John Mark Eggerton and Sharyn Potter and her granddaughters Mira, and Lilia. Phyllis was an amazing, gentle, patient, positive, lovable and compassionate woman.

A funeral was held on Friday, with Shiva services to be held Sunday and Monday.
