I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Norden passing he did my lasik surgery back in 1999 when lasik first came out, I just found out today and I am devastated to say the least. To this day I still have great vision due to Dr Norden’s expertise.  My heart goes out to his family. Rest in peace my dear friend.   Sincerely. Ralph Pussilano.

I think of Richard often, the things we did together in our field and his kind assistance and support all these years as we struck out alone.  He is in my thoughts and his spirit lives on in my life.

I am sad to learn of his passing. I always knew him as Dickie, the name used when he and my late husband were childhood playmates, crashing their toy cars into one another. Their parents were friends for many decades on both continents, and if I am not mistaken, their grandparents as well. An era is gone.

Dr. Norden changed my life.  I had worn glasses from the age of nine and when I had LASIK surgery in 2002 with Dr. Norden, the lenses had become quite thick. Going into surgery, the nurse held on to  my glasses and said I wouldn’t need them anymore.  As I lay on the operating table, the ceiling was just a blur.  When the surgery was over, I saw bright, beautiful images instead of blur. I thank him every morning when I rise from bed and do not have to grope for my glasses in order to see.  Now it’s almost twenty years later and I do not need glasses.  I am writing this with tears in my eyes because I did not know of Dr. Norden’s passing.  He was a wonderful, gifted, caring doctor who gave his patients the gift of excellent sight.  Rest In Peace , Doctor. 

I have been a patient of Dr. Norden for many years.  I first contacted him because I was interested in having LASIK surgery.   Dr. Norden very patiently addressed all of my many questions about the surgery until I felt comfortable enough to move forward.   I have never looked back.   To this day, my eyesight is great.   I know this because not too long ago, I revisited Dr.  Norden’s office to determine if anything had changed with my corrected vision.   Happily, I learned that my vision remained the same.   I felt comfortable and safe throughout my visits with Dr. Norden, who was not only an incredible doctor, but a truly caring and  compassionate man.   I will never forget Dr. Norden and his wonderful team and will forever be grateful to him.   Rest In Peace, Dr. Norden and thank you.❤️

Sadly I just heard about Dr. Norden’s passing.  I have been a patient for over a decade and was so shocked & saddened to hear of his passing.  He was such a lovely, caring, smart, wise doctor that helped my eyesight immensely.  He will be very missed.  RIP Dr. Norden. 🙏

He did my LASIK surgery in the year 2000. It was brand new and he was recommended to me. Best thing I ever did. Even today no glasses. Worked terrifically. He was a consummate professional with no attitude. Just loved his work and loved to make his patients happy. That he certainly did. Sad to hear he passed.  RIP Doctor N.  Great professional. Great man.

I am left speechless on learning about Richard's untimely death. I send my deepest condolences to his wife, children, brother and sister. Richard and I attended Columbia Grammar together from second grade until graduation. Our senior year, he and I were the only two students in Russian 5 and Spanish 5. After graduation, the two of us went to Europe together. We knew each other better than all but one or two of the other students at CGPS and stayed in touch over the years. I was so happy for him to hear of his success in Lasik. When he put his mind to something, he could accomplish just about anything he wanted. The last time I saw him was for a dinner at an East side restaurant after my parents passed. He and I shared many of the same parental challenges and he was kindly supportive of some of the things I was going through, having experienced them himself. I will miss his corny humor and sharp retorts. May you rest in peace, Richard. You left us far too soon....

So sorry. Sat next to Rich for many great Yankee memories at the old stadium in the Bronx.  A true Diehard Yankee fan!!

I was so sorry to hear about Rich's untimely passing. He and I went to junior high and high school together many years ago and re-met on Facebook. Rich and I had very different political views and we enjoyed debating with each other (or at least I did). What came through loud and clear, though, was his great love for his family. My condolences go out to all of you. Please take comfort in the many wonderful memories that you shared and the knowledge that you were deeply loved.

I was shocked and devastated to hear this very tragic news. I had the honor and privilege to be Dr. Norden’s first Lasik patient. From the moment I first met Rich, we immediately became friends. He had the ability to put you at ease with his calm, confident and reassuring demeanor, making the whole procedure seem so simple.
Dr. Norden in turn brought my vision from 20/400 to 20/10, better than 20/20, which was truly amazing.
Dr. Norden was highly respected throughout the Law Enforcement community, having done hundreds if not thousands of Police Officers and Emergency Responders. He made himself available 24/7, should an emergency exist, of which I personally know. Rich was honored by the NJ Police Honor Legion, which he was extremely proud of.

I met rick and Jill while doing work in their home. I was immediately family   We shared talk about wine abs the Yankees  his love for his wife Jill was a glow as we spoke about the house they shared and their blended family.

Rich will be dearly missed. I enjoyed getting to know him and associating with him on a professional level. His easy-going nature and sense of humor put others at ease. He loved his family and loved helping his patients see better through the care he provided. Rich's influence will be felt for years to come, both for me personally and for many others within our profession. Most people don’t know that Rich very generously donated his services performing refractive surgery on many ophthalmology residents.  He was a good man with a big heart. Will be missed by his friends and patients.

It seems like yesterday that Rich helped me to start my own laser center and go out on my own.  That was 20 years ago.  Rich has always been a source of wise counsel and would volunteer his expertise generously.   His spirit will live on in all who knew him and  I will think of him whenever seeking out a new path, to look to my thoughts about him for continued guidance.  I will miss him, saddened that this terrible loss that will be born by those closest to him, his family, friends and colleagues. 

I had heard of Rich for years before we met.  We became classmates at the 2015 PCEO, assigned to the same small group...Rich, Carlos, Brock, Delilah and I.  Rich's zest for life, always visible in his twinkling eyes was infectious.  Separated by 6 time zones we did not see each other enough!  I will miss him terribly!
To his wife and daughter....it was always clear he loved you both immensely. I can only imagine the joys you shared.  RIP my friend!

Warm memories of Rich who was one of the first people I chatted to when I joined the Refractive  Alliance Forum. Great conversations at subsequent meetings and email exchanges. He will be sorely missed by friends and colleagues alike. My sincere condolences.

Richard and I met at our lasik meetings years ago. A great surgeon, a valued part of his community, respected among his peers and a great friend to me. This news came as a shock to me. Rich was my classmate at the Physician CEO Program at Kellogg / Northwestern in 2015. We spoke frequently since then. So sorry to hear this tragic news. I only got to know Rich relatively late in both our ophthalmic careers and immediately liked and respected him. Such a wonderful character and genuine person. I truly am sorry for your loss and hope that his memory helps ease the pain. Rest in peace Rich!

Twenty two years with Dr. Norden. I'm heartbroken 💔.  He was taken so fast we never even got to say goodbye. The last time I saw him he said goodnight have a great weekend see you next week. His office was left as if he would be returning. I don't know what the days ahead will bring but I am sure I will never have a boss as cool as Dr. Norden. We were well polished as a team. Patients said all the time..."you all work so well together" 
I was proud of that. We nailed the definition of a solid force and an amazing team. 
I will forever miss my days in the office with my girls and Dr. N. I Feel an emptiness I haven't felt since I lost my mom. Dr. Norden was loved like family.

I met Dr. Norden when I assumed the northeast territory working with AMO many years ago..from our very first meeting  to the present, he always had a way of making you feel like the most important person in the room. There was always a twinkle in his eye and a little adventure going on. He will be deeply missed.

I met Richard Norden our first week in medical school. We have been friends since 1974. He was a good friend and one of the nicest people I knew. He was a great tennis player. I’m happy to say I’ve never beaten him in even one set in the four years we were in medical school and we played alot of tennis. I’ve had the pleasure of treating his children and watching him become one of the most successful ophthalmologists on the East Coast.
