I first met Sophie my first year of teaching in North Bergen. She was the happiest lady I ever met, with a smile and a few pleasant words for everyone. I particularly remember her helping out kids who lost their lunch money or lunch ticket. No one ever went hungry on Sophie’s watch. She was the sweetest lady I’ve ever known and I feel privileged to have had her for a friend. Rest In Peace

Dear Sophie is remembered by every student who ate lunch in the High School cafeteria. She was everyone's Mom when they were at school. I had it even better. I grew up in the same apartment building with Sophie. I always called her my second Mom. When I grew older and became a tenants rights advocate, she was right behind me signing petitions and helping me organize. She always cheered me on, but she was also helpful with her own ideas. Together, we helped form the toughest tenants rights laws. Sophie loved my children like she loved her own grandchildren. I will always remember the amazing aromas coming from her kitchen during the holidays. I will always cherish her wonderful advice and words of wisdom. Good bye dear friend. Good bye my second Mom..Sophie Cohen

What is there that I can say about my Great Aunt Sophie she was the most amazing person on the planet. A smile that could light up the room. A heart that was filled with love. Arms that when she would use them to hug you you could feel it in your soul. She was and is now an Angel that will watch over all of us. This world was lucky for the 101 almost 102 years that she has been in it. The only memories that I have of her are good and loving and of her laughing. She was the most positive person and could have cared less about material possessions. She used to say I am the wealthiest person I have the love of my family and friends. She did not complain about anything or anyone. Only had kind words to say . We are all truly blessed to have her in our lives for the amount of time that we did. I will forever love and miss you.

Sophie was always smiling & happiest being around the multitude of family & friends that adored her. To know her was to love her. Her Thanksgiving feasts of yore were legend. Her furniture was placed in the hallway outside her abode to ensure that there was always enough room inside for the entire family & any "strays" that chose to show up. Sophie was my dad's first cousin, but more like a sister to him. I'm am so lucky to have shared so many wonderful times with her & the rest of this phenomenal family. No one can ever take away our memories, including those that we "youngsters" will continue to create. Rest in peace, Cousin Sophie.

Tony, Annette, and Boys,

We were so sorry to hear about the passing of Annette's mother. From the stories we heard, she was a great little lady. She lived a long fulfilled life. I just recently buried my mother of 92 years.
God bless them both for being wonderful mothers, great grandmas and giving us a long time to enjoy them on this earth. They will ALWAYS be loved, FOREVER missed, but NEVER forgotten!

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Sophie was the absolute best Mother-in-law I could ever have wished for. She was a truly beautiful person. A loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother. So many memories of happy times spent with family and friends. We were all truly blessed to have her in our lives.
Miss you Mom! With love always,
