A chapel service for Spencer will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM at Gutterman and Musicant Jewish Funeral Directors, 402 Park Street, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Following the chapel service will be a burial from 10:45 AM to 11:15 AM at Riverside Cemetery, 12 Market St, Saddle Brook, New Jersey.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, Feb. 20, 1940, Spencer is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lena Shaps, his dear son, Dr. Howard Shaps, grandchildren Jenna Shaps and Ryan Shaps, daughter-in-law, Shane O’Koon Shaps, sister-in-law Ruth Shaps and by his loving nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Spencer graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in textile engineering. His career spanned six decades in the textile industry in New York City and North Carolina.
