After graduating from New York University, Steve chose a career in publishing, beginning at Fairchild Publications as a reporter. He rose quickly there, managing multiple publications as group publisher and senior vice president, and working in New York and Paris. After two decades at Fairchild, he held senior management positions at several other business-to-business publishing companies, ending his career as CEO and Chairman of Frontline Media (formerly Quadrant Media.) He was also a Prudential Mutual Funds director. Steve was a mentor to many young people and a volunteer at Sponsors for Educational Opportunity. He was an active supporter of the Blaues Haus in Breisach, Germany, a memorial site and museum dedicated to the history of the Jews in Breisach, located in what was once the home of his father-in-law, Ralph Eisemann, a Holocaust survivor.
A world traveler, hiker, and avid theatergoer, Steve loved books, Broadway musicals (especially Sondheim), good food (he was a superb cook), fine wine, and baseball. A pioneering member of Rotisserie Baseball, he participated in the American Dreams League since 1981.
