Susan Joan FUDIM
January 10, 1955 – October 20, 2020
Susan J. Fudim, 65 years old, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2020, after a long illness.
Beloved daughter of Bernard and Thelea Fudim (deceased), and pre-deceased by her brother Steven Fudim. She is survived by her sister Sharon Fudim, her niece Shana Fudim, and her great-niece Myla Fudim. She is also survived by her brother from another mother, Bil Thibodeau.
Born in Brooklyn, she was raised in New Milford, NJ and later relocated to the Boston area. She had the greatest apartments over the years in Back Bay, Allston and Cambridge until finally settling in Somerville, MA.
Like the rest of her family, Susan had a wicked sense of humor. No topic was sacred when everyone gathered at the dinner table.
Susan had natural talent in music and poetry at an early age. She was a self-taught guitar player and composer, with incredible thoughts and energy. Anyone who was lucky enough to hear her play, sing, or read her poems could feel her intensity and realize her talent.
Once Susan traveled to Italy, she knew her desire and destiny was to make art. She graduated from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and experimented in a variety of materials. Sculptures made of welded steel or ceramic were one medium she excelled in, but her true passion and intense energy were interwoven through her drawings and paintings. Susan produced a prolific body of work and shared her gift through exhibits, teaching and donations of her works to many causes throughout her life.
Toward the end of her career, she created some of her most amazing and important works. We are lucky to have seen Susan through her striking colors, intuitive yet deliberate brushstrokes, sense of humor, and deserved self-worth in her paintings. The art world is lucky as well.
