Terry was born Thelma Konikoff in East Harlem, New York on January 17, 1933 to Chaim/Hyman and Celia Gracz Konikoff, who pre-deceased her, as did her siblings Al, Sam, Sadie, Sally (Sarah), Jean (Jennie) Milton, and Carl. They grew up in the East Bronx, where she attended James Monroe High School.
She married Saul Reuben Jacobs on March 7, 1953. They lived on Forbes Air Force Base in Topeka Kansas, The Bronx, NY, Yonkers, NY, Centereach, Long Island, New York, Yonkers NY (again) and Boynton Beach, Florida. Saul predeceased her in May, 2005. From 1956 through 1994, Terry and Saul made their home in Yonkers’ Crestwood Lake Apartments and Crestwood Lake Heights.
Terry started working for IBM in 1966, rising from receptionist to Executive Assistant of their division assisting global executives and their families living in the US. She also helped plan a number of global conferences for that division. When she and Saul moved to Florida in 1994, she worked as a receptionist for developer GL Homes, and was ultimately asked to be a resident relations assistant in one of their properties. She was very proud of that fact that she worked until age 81.
She moved to New Jersey to be closer to her family in 2018. Terry created a new group of friends, becoming an active member of the Seabrook community, appearing in three productions of the Seabrook Players, and at age 86 became a camera person for the Seabrook television station.
Terry is survived by her daughter Joy Jacobs Ovadek, son Ken Jacobs and daughter-in-law Leslie Glazer-Jacobs, grandchildren Carli Ovadek, Jeremy Ovadek, Alexander Jacobs and Martine Rose Jacobs, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jackie and Albie Schuman, many devoted nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and best friend of 65 years, Molly Lindy Fine.
