

HOLMAN, THOMAS SETH (b. April 21, 1953 d. March 16, 2015) died in Manhattan of respiratory failure. He was born in Manhattan the second son of Adele and the late Merton Holman of Teaneck, NJ. Tom as he was known had a lifelong career as an art historian, author and private art advisor. Tom earned his bachelor’s degree at Macalester College ’76 and his master’s degree from the University of Chicago ’78 as well as studying at Oxford University and University of Vienna. During the past 40 years he served as Chief Curator at the Norton Museum of Art, Curator of Collections at the Minnesota Museum of American Art, Associate Director at Forum Gallery, and Executive Director at the Hudson River Museum, Albany Museum of Art, and Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art. He assembled an extensive 42-year collection of Grand Tour souvenirs that were recently auctioned at the Skinners Gallery in Boston. Tom is survived by his mother Adele Holman of Teaneck, NJ, brother Bert Holman and sister-in-law Randy Sue Foster of Waban, MA and nieces Mollie Jo of New York City and Ella of Washington, DC. Graveside service will be private on Friday. The family will be receiving family and friends on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm, at 580 Rutland Avenue Teaneck, NJ
