Toby Rochelle Gilbert

Toby was born in Brooklyn, NY and moved to West Pittston, Pennsylvania as a young child before relocating to Teaneck, NJ where she grew up, graduating from Teaneck High School. She went on to Southampton College in Long Island where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree, then moved to Boston where she worked in finance at Mellon Bank. She eventually settled in Fort Lee, NJ, where she spent over fifty years on Valley Street.

Family was at the center of Toby's life. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Arthur and Sylvia Gilbert, and is survived by her younger brother Rudy Gilbert and his wife Gene Gilbert, younger sister Susan Gilbert and her husband Art Presser, and her beloved niece Alison and nephew Steven, children of Rudy and Gene.

Toby enjoyed traveling with family, from cruises through the Mediterranean, North Sea, and Caribbean to trips to Costa Rica and Disney World. She treasured visiting her parents and sister in Coconut Creek, Florida, visits to Gene and Rudy's at the Jersey Shore, and gatherings with her cousins Linda, Rena, Stacey and Andrew in Manhattan and Long Island. At home, she found joy in needlepoint, reading novels from the library, and word puzzles. As an aunt, sister, cousin, and friend, Toby was known for her kind heart and authenticity. She will be missed very much.

A graveside service for Toby will be held Friday, June 13, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Cedar Park and Beth El Cemeteries, 735 Forest Ave, Paramus, NJ 07652. All who knew Toby are welcome to attend.
