Bernice Mary Croucher

Bernice was born in Sampsonville, Cape Breton, NS on 05 June 1927, one of ten surviving children of Charles Martell and Mary Elizabeth MacNeil. Bernice moved to Halifax as a young woman to work in a law office during the war years. She worked many years at Robert Simpson Eastern Ltd and The Hudson Bay Company.

She is survived by daughters Sandra McAvoy (Darrell), and Deborah Croucher-Smith (Layton); Grandsons, Blain and Scott McAvoy and Geoffrey and Jordon Croucher, great-grandchildren Sarah, Amy, Terri, Abigaelle, William and Aaliyah; sister Dolores Hennigar of Onslow, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph; parents Charles and Mary Martell; and siblings Abigail MacDonald, Evelyn Lafford, Albert, Margaret Farrell, Marie Martell, Earl, Hugh, and Norma Martell.

Visitation will take place on Saturday, March 7th from 1-2pm in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, with a Celebration of Life officiated by Rev. Jim Anderson immediately after at 2pm. Reception to follow downstairs.
