

Entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 17, 2014, peacefully at home. He was the son of the late Dora (nee Chambers) and Douglas Rapson.
Bryan was born in Essex, England. He attended Felsted private school for boys. He then emigrated with his parents to Kelowna, B.C., and the family subsequently lived in Moose Jaw, Sask. In 1947 Bryan graduated from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ont., with a degree in chemical engineering followed by a Master’s Degree in 1949. He enjoyed working for many years for Alcan Aluminum Co. in Arvida, Que. Relocating to Halifax, he worked for several years for the Nova Scotia Research Council. Bryan was a member of the Cathedral Church of All Saints, a philanthropist, a philatelist extraordinaire, a member of the St. George Society, a member of the British Commonwealth Society, and a world traveler. He was also an outstanding duplicate bridge player and achieved the rank of Diamond Life Master. He is survived by his cousin Mary (Dean) Miller of Kelowna, B.C., and his close friends, Jem Mendoza, Gerald Soucy, and Virginia Giza. Bryan appreciated his many caregivers including Winnie Rankin, Laura Hamilton, the Victoria Order of Nurses, the hospice team, and Dr. Kumer. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2014, in the Cathedral Church of All Saints. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cathedral Church of All Saints or to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation. Burial will be held at a later date.
