ROSS, Camillus (nee MacNeil) – 92, passed away peacefully at her home in Halifax surrounded by family on Thursday, November 22, 2012. She was born in Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia, to Joseph and Christie Ann (Jobes) MacNeil. She was a registered nurse and worked for over 25 years. Her family was her absolute priority. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and was delighted when any group of them was together.
In her eighties “Cyber Nana” learned to email and video chat so that she could stay in contact with grandchildren who lived across Canada, the U.S. and in England.
She was predeceased by her husband Peter, her son Paul, and her siblings Lawrence, Bernard, Michael, Mary, Sister Ann Mary, and Theresa. She will be greatly missed by her sister Loretta, and her surviving sons Frank (Gail), Ian (Shannon), Peter (Karen), and David (Elaine). She was a wonderful grandmother to Melissa (Ellis), Craig (Ashley), Steven (Linda), Alan (Ainsley), Tim, Mike, Jennifer (Neil), Mark (Ashton), Emily (Joel), Brendan, and her great-grandchildren, Alex, Rachael, Ethan, Sofia, and Spencer all of whom were fortunate to have been able to spend time with nana and to have her count their toes.
Visitation will be held at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax on Sunday, November 25, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church (formerly Saint Stephen’s) 6032 Normandy Drive, Halifax on Monday, November 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville.
In lieu of flowers donations to the Canadian Cancer Society in our mom’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
