It is with sadness that we announce the death of Charles (Charlie) Reginald Lamont, 65, on October 18, 2013, at the Palliative Care Unit, VG site, Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre, Halifax.
Charlie was predeceased by his parents, Reginald and Olive Lamont and his brother Larry. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Margie Macdonald, two nieces, his uncles and aunts and countless cousins across North America. Sweet, kind Charlie is also fondly remembered by his friend and supporter, Jim Houston and many other good pals in Halifax and Ontario.
Charlie was born in Burlington, Ontario in 1947 and lived there until 1991 when he moved to Halifax. He was an avid collector of postcards, movies, music, and movie books. Charlie followed Canadian politics enthusiastically. All who knew Charlie marvelled at his encyclopaedic knowledge of films, music, history, birthdays and other notable anniversaries.
Charlie has asked that in lieu of flowers donations be made in his memory to the Schizophrenia Society of Nova Scotia, Connections Clubhouse or Laing House, in Halifax.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Cruikshank's Halifax Funeral Home. A private reception to remember Charlie will be held at a later date.
Many thanks to the staff of ward 7A of the VG site, QEII Centennial Building and to the many health care providers and friends who assisted with Charlie’s care during his illness. To send or view an online condolence please visit: www.cruikshankhalifaxfuneralhome.com.
