Darrell Howard Alexander MacDonald

Darrell Howard Alexander MacDonald - Age 62, of Halifax, NS died at Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 23, 2026. Born September 23, 1963 in St Jerome Quebec, he was the only son of Robert A. F. MacDonald and Joan S. (Spicer) MacDonald.

Darrell graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Francis Xavier University in 1986. He worked for Canada Post as a letter carrier in Dartmouth for decades retiring September 2023. He enjoyed his work, particularly greeting his “customers” as he made his daily rounds. Darrell made many life- long friends within Canada Post who miss him dearly.

Darrell was a quietly kind and generous man always willing to give a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbours.

Deeply missing Darrell are his parents, sisters, Alayne MacDonald (Charles O’Neil) of Halifax, NS and Lynn MacDonald (late Paul Stewart) of Pleasant Grove, PEI; nephew Keegan O’Neil (Nicole Cleary) of Halifax; and niece Adrienne O’Neil (Dylan Day); grandnephew Allistair Day and grandniece Evelyn Day, all of Bridgewater, NS. Also, Darrell’s former wife and good friend, Margie MacDonald of Dartmouth, NS.

The family would like to thank the medical staff in the ICU of Dartmouth General Hospital for their outstanding care of, and compassion for, Darrell.
