Douglas Lewis Greene

March 15, 1951November 20, 2021

A lifelong resident of North End Halifax passed away on November 20, 2021 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary at age 70. Doug was a son of the late Lewis and Irene (Downey) Greene. He graduated from St. Stephen’s School and St. Patrick’s High School.

Doug belonged to the Long Shoreman’s Union local 269 working as a Stevedore for 26 years, retiring in 2006. He was also a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8666.

Doug’s special fondness was for his furry feline companions and will be greatly missed by Bud the cat.

He is survived by his uncle Albert (Zelma) Greene; his sister-in-law, Margaret (Landry) Greene; a number of cousins as well as his Godchild Waylon Harnish. Along with his parents, he was also predeceased by his brother, Harold.

A heartfelt thank you to Barry Fitzgerald for being there for Doug these years, as well as a bouquet of gratitude and thanks to the dedicated medical team on unit 8.4 at the Halifax Infirmary.

As per Doug’s wishes there will not be a visitation or service at this time but an interment will take place at the family plot at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the S.P.C.A. or a charity of your choice.

Dougie, You were one of a kind and always brought a smile to our faces with your crazy antics. You will be at rest now with your Mom and Dad and Harold. Margaret , please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers as you go through this terrible time. Doug was so lucky to have you in his life to help him :)
