McBRIDE, Douglas Gordon – 66, of Halifax passed away peacefully on August 16, 2012 as a result of kidney cancer. He was predeceased by his brother, Stillman in childhood and his father, Lloyd. He is survived by his mother Roxie (Frail) of Caledonia, wife Carolyn (Selig), son Christopher of Halifax and a circle of close relatives and friends. Doug was born in Caledonia, Queens Co., NS. He worked for the City of Halifax in 1965, and later in the Assessment Department as a tax assessor for the Province of NS until 1980. He bowled for many years in the Halifax Police League, and was a fan of Nascar racing. After being incapacitated by his illness, a great sense of humour and a fun loving spirit became absent from the many games he enjoyed playing with friends and family. The long days of half life are over at last. His last breath was the technicality which finally severed him from a family he loved. Cremation has taken place. Family visitation will be held at Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax from 2-4pm on Sunday, August 19th. Funeral will be in the Caledonia United Baptist Church on Monday, August 20th at 2:00 pm. Rev. John Boddy officiating, with ashes being interred in Harmony Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, NS Branch 429-9298, or the Caledonia United Baptist Church.
