Hanrahan, Edward James ‘Ted’ Jr. Age 86 of Halifax passed away April 16, 2018. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Edward James Sr, 'Ned' and Lillian (Paull) Hanrahan. Ted was a loving father, husband and treasured member of a large extended family. He enjoyed a wide social circle playing baseball, lead singer of the company band ,church choir, league sports in curling and bowling. He enjoyed the camaraderie and deep friendships formed through these activities. Ted loved his work,starting in 1952 with the NS Light & Power and retiring from the NS Power Corporation in 1991.Ted volunteered in his local parish church’s for many years in various capacities He had a great love of his Catholic faith which helped him through the loss of both of his wives. He had a fighting spirit with a zest for life which helped him overcome a devastating cancer.Ted helped many family members when they were getting their start in life. A deeply generous man, Ted was there to help his neighbours without being asked. Ted enjoyed the good life with the love of two wonderful wives, and with family and friends and did it his way.All of these experience’s helped him face his last years with Lewy Body with dignity and grace and with the loving support he so richly deserved.Ted is survived by daughters. Elaine Charlong, Karen Walsh , son in law Bryce Charlong, sisters Helen Sarty and Noreen Newman, Grandchildren Nicole Charlong, Ryan Walsh, Charlie Walsh, Chelsea Charlong, and Lacy Walsh and Greatgrandchildren Layna, Ryder, Landyn, Alaedien ,Judah, Carson, Caryss, Evelyn, Conor ;many nieces and nephews. A special thank you for the dedicated supportive visits to Dad over this difficult period to Nicole, Zac, Linda, John, Lacy and Jackie MacDonald, and the dedicated staff of St. Vincents Nursing Home. Ted was predeceased by wife Evelyn ( nee Richard) 1973, wife Faye ( nee Mac Gregor) 2013, brother Gerald ,sisters Pat and Dorothy,Stepson Graeme Homer. A Memorial Service will be held 2 pm Friday April 20, 2018 in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Interment in St. John’s Cemetery.
