It is with great sorrow and sadness that we announce that our mother Eileen (Williams) Rankin, age 100, has passed away on April 18, 2022 at the QEII Hospital.
Born in Canso, Guysborough County, she was the daughter of the late James and Eva Mae (Snyder) Williams. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of Saint Mother Teresa Catholic Church (CWL), Catholic Women’s League. Eileen was a member of the Northern Lights Club where she loved to play cards and attend other functions. She was an auxiliary member of Saint Vincent’s Nursing home.
She loved to travel and made her yearly trip to St Anne De Beaupre, as she had great faith and a strong belief in God. She looked forward to Seniors Day once a month at Saint Mother Teresa Catholic Church. She also loved to play cards and Bingo where she lived at Almon Place.
Eileen worked at Moir’s Chocolate Factory and after she raised her family, she worked at Windsor Park (DND).
Eileen is survived by daughters Theresa and Marie Rankin, Donna (David MacDonald), son John, grandchildren Matthew, Sean, Joseph and Sarah, greatgrandchildren Justin, Luke and Lilia, sisters-in-law Mary Rankin, Mabou Harbour, Cape Breton, and Margaret Williams, Sydney, Cape Breton, along with several nieces and nephews.
