Fernando Correia Cordeiro

Fernando Correia Cordeiro, quietly passed away on May 29th, 2015 at the age of 81 at Northwood in Halifax. Fernando was born to the late Jose Inacio and Angelina Correia Cordeiro on March 30, 1934 in Portugal. Loving father to David Cordeiro and father in law to Triena Connors and grandfather (Vavo) to their two wonderful daughters Kassiedy Cordeiro and Kariessa Cordeiro. Fernando had been ill for a while with diabetes, heart issues, dementia and had already had a few strokes but he was a fighter. He loved soccer ; even played professionally, fishing, talking about old times and friends but most of all he loved spending time with his granddaughters and family. Fernando was known to be a tough guy but deep down he was a softie and loved his family with all his heart. So much so he even shaved off his mustache which he was known for in younger years so that he could kiss his granddaughters. He will also be greatly missed but never forgotten by his family in Toronto, Hamilton, Brampton, Mississauga & Portugal and his life time friends Manual, Miguel, and Jose. He was predeceased by sisters; Lucilla Gouveia and Maria Do Carmo Moniz and brothers Jose Cordeiro, Edwardo Cordeiro and Antonio Cordeiro.Visitation 2-4pm Sunday June 7,2015 with funeral service 1:30 pm Monday June 8,2015 both in Cruikshanks Funeral Home ,2666 Windsor St. Halifax. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer's and dementia society.
