Francis Joseph Sampson

Francis Joseph Sampson 86 L’Ardoise, Nova Scotia, Francis was born on December 25th 1925 and died peacefully on May 16th at the VG Hospital. Francis is survived by his wife of 56 years Mildred nee (Briand) sons Jerome/Maria (Dunn) and Neil/Eileen (Mac Gibbon), Grandchildren Jessica, Jennifer, Andrew, Matthew and Anna who will all miss their beloved Puppie. Francis is also survived by his sister Mary (O’Brien) and many nieces and nephews.

Francis was a member of the International Longshoreman’s Association and was a lifetime member at the Chief Warrant and Petty Officers Mess where he spent his retirement years with friends playing darts and recounting stories of his children and grandchildren. Francis’ was known for his passion for sports especially his beloved Montreal Canadians. Francis was a master craftsman whose work will always be proudly displayed in the homes of his children, grandchildren and close friends. He was forever tinkering in his workshop where his smile was always at its biggest and where many of his ideas came to life.

Francis was predeceased by his father Fredrick, his mother Florence, brother Burt and sisters Gladys, Theresa, and Julia. The family would like to thank everyone for the support over the past few months especially the nurses and physicians at 7A Palliative Care, Victoria General, VON nurses Vicki and Trish and Dr. Graham Bethune.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Catherine’s Church Bayer’s Road On Thursday May 31st 10:30am followed by a reception. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
